Haven’t updated for a while, so although I went a while ago, am still feeling pretty inspired by the Kandinsky retrospective at the Centre Pompidou which I caught on my last jaunt to Paris. It’s an exhibition that goes to prove you really can’t understand a painter until you’ve seen a real cross section of their works: not just the one or two you might have glanced at in Ikea. Seeing his most famous compositions in their context, something really does click and make you understand how he came to paint such imaginative, seemingly abstract pieces at a time when this really did go against the grain. Continues until August 10th.
